Soil Temperature Forecast

The soil temperature forecast graph shows the average temperature of the soil’s surface layer within a specific depth range (e.g., 0-10 cm), visualized in brown, as indicated by the color bar in Figure 3.4A below.

This value is an aggregation of soil conditions over larger areas and may not represent specific conditions of a particular site, forest, or field. It can be used for regional comparisons and observing gradients.

The average soil temperature is illustrated by a central brown line, surrounded by lighter shades of brown that represent the possible minimum and maximum temperatures.

If the user chooses to view the hourly soil temperature forecast data, they should click on the “View Hourly” button located at the bottom of the page, as shown in Figure 3.4B below.

Upon clicking the “View Hourly” button, a screen will open where the user can examine the soil temperature forecast for the next 14 days at different times of the day, as presented in Figure 3.4C below.

When the hourly soil temperature forecast screen opens, the different date options are displayed at the top of the graph, with the respective times shown at the bottom of the screen.
